The Process of Including a Guide Dog into the Lives of People with Severe Visual Impairments or Blindness.

Abstract:

Cílem mé bakalářské práce je zjistit jak probíhá proces začlenění vodícího psa do života osoby se zrakovým postižením, jak dlouho tento proces trvá, co vše obnáší a jaké se vněm nachází odlišnosti z pohledu různých osob. Tato práce se skládá z teoretické části, která se dělí do tří kapitol. První kapitola vymezuje základní pojem zrakové postižení, rozděluje toto postižení do několika skupin a popisuje důsledky zrakového postižení v každodenním životě. Druhá kapitola je zaměřena na vodící psy, jejich historii, výcvik i výchovu a také plemena vhodná pro výcvik. Třetí kapitola se zaměřuje na vodícího psa a jeho výhody vůči majiteli. Také na jejich soužití, nabídku středisek výcviku vodících psů i na podporu státu a finanční stránku celého procesu. Hlavní cíl praktické části je zjistit, jak probíhá celý proces začlenění vodícího psa do života osoby se zrakovým postižením z pohledu různých uživatelů vodících psů.

Abstract:

The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to find out how the process of including the guide dog into the life of a person with visual impairments works, how long the whole process takes, what it all entails, and what differences there are in terms of different people. This thesis consists of a theoretical section, which is divided into three chapters. The first chapter defines the basic concept of visual impairments, divides that disability into several groups, and describes the consequences of visual impairment in everyday life. The second chapter focuses on guide dogs, their history, training and upbringing, as well as breeds suitable for training. The third chapter focuses on the guide dog and its advantages to the owner. Also on their coexistence, the offer of training centres for guide dogs as well as the support of the state and the financial side of the process. The main aim of the practical part is to see the whole process of incorporating the guide dog into the life of a person with visual impairment viewed from the perspective of different guide dog users.
