Poetry slam in Czech republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vývojem Slam poetry v České republice od jejího počátku po současnost. Pojednává především o hlavních organizátorech, předních českých slamerech a divácích, bez kterých by tento specifický druh umění, pohybující se mezi recitací, dramatickým uměním a performance, nenašel své opodstatnění. Slam poetry vznikla v 80. letech 20. století v Chicagu jako opozice vůči tradičnímu pojetí prezentace poezie a autorského čtení. Jejím zakladatelem je stavební dělník a básník Marc Kelly Smith, který se rozhodl dělat poezii zcela jinak, jít proti proudu. Součástí práce je tedy i kapitola věnující se americkému slamu a jeho následné expanzi do celého světa. Podstatná část textu vznikala formou teoreticko-empirického výzkumu směřujícímu nejen k pochopení tvorby českých slamerů, ale také k poznání a profilaci jejich recipientů.

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis deals with the development of Poetry slam in the Czech Republic from its inception to the present. Primarily, it focuses on the principal organizers of the Czech leading slammers and viewers, without whom this specific type of art, ranging between recitations, dramatic and performance, found its purpose. Poetry slam originated in the 80 the 20th century in Chicago as an opposition to the traditional concept of the presentation of poetry and public readings. Its founder is a construction worker and poet Marc Kelly Smith, who decided to make poetry quite different by, literally, swimming against the current. A chapter in this work is devoted to slamn in the U.S. and its subsequent expansion throughout the world. A substantial part of the text was created in the form of theoretical and empirical research towards understanding not only Czech slammers, but also their audience.
