The Analysis of Mathematical Knowledge of First Year High School Students

Abstract:

Předmětem disertační práce je analýza a vyhodnocení různé úrovně znalostí matematiky v ČR a srovnání výsledků znalostních testů žáků ČR se zahraničím. Konkrétně znalostí v úpravách číselných výrazů, znalost základních algebraických vzorců, slovních úloh, logické úvahy při řešení slovních úloh, řešení rovnic, elementární znalosti z geometrie. Výzkum byl proveden v prvních ročnících SŠ, kde se nejvíce projeví rozdíly v úrovni získaných matematických znalostí žáků přicházejících z různých základních škol. Stupeň ohodnocení žáků, se kterým přicházejí na střední školu, není vždy jednoznačným ukazatelem o znalostech. Zpravidla odpovídá výrazně rozdílné úrovni znalostí. Cílem bylo zmapovat vědomosti a dovednosti, které si žáci odnášejí ze základní školy. V závěru práce je návrh učebních textů, které byly sestaveny i s využitím výsledků zrealizované ankety jako interaktivní pomůcka pro učitele matematiky i žáky.

Abstract:

The subject matter of this dissertation is the analysis and evaluation of different levels of knowledge of mathematics in the Czech Republic and comparison of the results of the pupils´ tests knowledge across the Czech Republic. Specifically, knowledge of solving numeric expressions, knowledge of basic algebraic formulas, word problems, reasoning in solving word problems, solving equations, elementary knowledge of geometry. The research was conducted in the early years of secondary school, where the differences are the most apparent in the level of acquired mathematical knowledge of students that are coming from different elementary schools. The students´ grades evaluation from primary school, usually does not match the knowledge required in high school, therefore it is not always single valued indicator of knowledge. Generally the grades reveal significant gaps in levels of knowledge. The aim was to explore the knowledge and skills that students bring from elementary school. As a result of this study analysis there is an offer of textbooks that have been developed upon the use of survey as an interactive tool for mathematics teachers and students.
