A Contrastive Study of English and Czech Idioms
Abstract:
Tato bakalářská diplomová práce porovnává anglické idiomy s jejich českými ekvivalenty. Práce obsahuje idiomy, které v anglickém jazyce obsahují slova, která mají relevanci k počasí, např. "weather" nebo "wind". Idiomy sesbírané z mnoha slovníků, jsou rozdělené na základě jejich korespondence s českými ekvivalenty.
Abstract:
This bachelor’s diploma thesis is a comparison of English idioms and their Czech equivalents. The thesis focuses on English idioms that contain main lexemes related to the weather, such as, for instance, "weather" or "wind". This thesis compares idioms collected from various dictionaries and analyzes them according to their correspondence with Czech equivalents.
