Security as a determinant of the attractiveness of a region

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá bezpečností jako determinantou atraktivity regionu. Práce popisuje bezpečnost v České republice, její zajišťovaní na regionální úrovni a teoretická východiska hodnocení atraktivity regionu. Dále se práce zabývá popisem vybraných ukazatelů bezpečnosti a atraktivity. Ke konci je pak analyzován vývoj těchto ukazatelů v jednotlivých letech. Cílem této práce je posoudit, zda lze bezpečnostní situaci v regionech považovat za významnou determinantu atraktivity pro obyvatelstvo a investory a lze ji tak vnímat jako podstatný rozvojový impulz, nebo zda je faktor bezpečnosti pro alokaci ekonomických aktivit spíše podružný. Mezi použité metody výzkumu patří především rešerše odborné literatury a internetových zdrojů, deskripce, analýzy a komparace. Na základě provedeného výzkumu nelze bezpečnost považovat za jednoznačnou determinantu atraktivity regionu, jelikož ve většině hodnocených oblastí atraktivity a bezpečnosti se jasná souvislost mezi ukazateli prokázat nepodařila. Nicméně v některých ohledech o vztazích mezi oběma dimenzemi uvažovat lze. U většiny ekonomických ukazatelů byla s ukazateli bezpečnosti prokázána určitá závislost, kdežto u demografických ukazatelů téměř nikoli. Na základě výše uvedeného se lze domnívat, že v některých oblastech by bezpečnost za determinantu regionální atraktivity být považována mohla, obecně však ne za determinantu zcela dominantní.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with security as an aspect in determining regional attractiveness. The thesis describes security in the Czech Republic, its regional cover and theoretical outstandings in the evaluation of attractiveness. Following chapters deals with the description of selected indicators of security and attractiveness. Concluding paragraphs establish the chronological evolve of those indicators during the years. Overall aim of the thesis is to evaluate whether the security aspects are important for the attractiveness of the region and can be seen as a crucial factor for the development of the region or whether the security can be seen as only a minor variable for the economic assets allocation. The list of used methods contains primary literature and internet sources, descriptions, analyses and comparisons. On the basis of the research the security aspect cannot be confirmed as the crucial determinant of the regional attractiveness, because the most of the evaluated areas did not confirm the correlation between security and the attractiveness of the region. Nevertheless in some aspects, mostly in economic aspects, the certain correlation between security and the regional attractiveness has been proved and on the other hand, demographical indicators have shown almost none of the correlation mentioned above. In conclusion the security aspects cannot be determined as the dominant aspect of regional attractiveness.
