Evaluation of parallel regeneration of fir and pioneer tree species in early stages of stand development – PRA (permanent research area) Tornado

Abstract:

Jedním z nejaktuálnějších témat současného lesnictví je obnova lesa na kalamitních holinách. Cílem této diplomové práce bylo porovnat růstové podmínky jedle bělokoré (Abies alba Mill.) v kombinaci s přípravnými dřevinami břízou bělokorou (Betula pendula Roth.) a topolem osikou (Populus tremula L.) na holině vzniklé po větrném tornádu v roce 2013. Plocha, výzkumný objekt Tornádo, je situována do předhoří Hrubého Jeseníku a je typologicky zařazena do SLT 4S. Na ploše byly založeny tyto varianty obnovy: jedle s břízou (JD+BR); jedle s osikou (JD+OS); jedle na holině. V průběhu let 2017–2019, tedy tři až pět let po výsadbě, byla u všech dřevin zjišťována výška, tloušťka a vitalita. Průměrná výška jedle byla pět let po výsadbě následující: JD+BR – 103,41 cm; JD+OS – 86,88 cm; JD na holině – 77,0 cm. Také vitalita jedle rostoucí s břízou byla nejlepší, naopak nejhorší byla na holině. Březový porost byl oproti osice vyšší, homogennější a poskytoval jedli v této fázi pro růst vhodnější podmínky. Na stranu druhou, vliv březového porostu na mikroklima nebyl tak zásadní – rozdíl v průměru maximální teploty o 2,6 °C.

Abstract:

One of the most actual topics in current forestry management is the forest regeneration on clearings due to salvage felling areas. The aim of this diploma thesis was to compare growth conditions of silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) in combination with preparatory woody species of birch (Betula pendula Roth.) and European aspen (Populus tremula L.) on area destroyed after the wind tornado in 2013 - research object Tornado is situated on the promontory of Hrubý Jeseník and is typologically included into SLT 4S. The following recovery variants were based on the clearing area: birch with fir (JD + BR); aspen with fir (JD + OS) and fir-on-the-clearing (JD). During 2017–2019, thus three to five years after planting, all tree species were measured for height, thickness and vitality. The average fir height was five years after planting following: JD + BR - 103.41 cm; JD + OS - 86.88 cm, fir-on-the-clearing - 77,0 cm. Also the vitality of fir growing with birch was the best, while the worst was the fir-on-the-clearing. The birch stand compared to aspen stand was higher, more homogeneous and provided fir trees at this stage more suitable conditions for growth. On the other hand, the effect of birch stands on the microclimate was not so radical - the difference in the maximum temperature was average of 2.6 ° C.
