Intercontinental air transport in the times of COVID-19

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se věnujeme statistické analýze leteckých řádů vybraných aerolinií v období pandemie COVID-19, jež narušila trend rostoucí nabídky letů. V práci jsme analyzovali faktory podporující vývoj osobní letecké dopravy a také ty, které její vývoj narušily. Dále pozornost věnujeme narušení růstové tendence letových řádů pandemií COVID-19 a zavedení opatření v letecké dopravě, jež se snažila zájem o leteckou dopravu opět zvýšit. Statistickou analýzou letových řádů vybraných aerolinií z jejich hlavních terminálů do zkoumaných oblastí jsme hodnotili počty letů do těchto oblastí ve vybraných obdobích normálového roku 2019 a v letech 2020 a 2021 ovlivněných pandemií COVID-19. V práci je svět rozdělen do sedmi oblastí. Každá oblast je reprezentována významnými leteckými společnostmi. Je zkoumána frekvence letových řádů z hlavních terminálů vybraných aerolinií do oblastí, v nichž aerolinie nemají svůj hlavní terminál. Změny letecké nabídky jsou porovnány s normálovým obdobím a dále interpretovány. Závěrem se práce věnuje konceptu využití zkoumaného tématu ve výuce zeměpisu na středních školách a gymnáziích.

Abstract:

In this thesis we study statistical analysis of flight schedules of representative airlines in the period of pandemic COVID-19 which has disrupted upward tendency of flight schedules. There were analysed the factors which support progress of passenger air transport, and also the ones which this progress disrupted. Thereafter we focus on disrupting upward tendency of flight schedules by pandemic COVID-19 and using restrictions that tried to increase demand for air travel. Afterwards we accomplished statistical analysis of flight schedules of representative airlines from their main hubs to research areas. We assessed numbers of flights to these areas in the representative period of standard year 2019, and year affected by pandemic COVID-19. The world is divided into seven areas in the research. Each area is represented by relevant airlines. We analyse frequency of flight schedules from the main hubs of representative airlines to areas where the main hubs of these airlines are located during pandemic period. Changes of flight schedules are compared with standard year, and they are construed. Eventually, we study a concept of using the topic of this research in lessons of geography at secondary schools.
