The idea of the Internet as a free medium vs. the real state in the context of information ethics

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Myšlenka internetu jako svobodného média vs. skutečný stav v kontextu informační etiky “ pojednává o problematice svobody internetu a informací z pohledu uživatele a z pohledu uživatelských platforem. Internet v dnešní době představuje již neodmyslitelnou součást každodenního života a informace, které tvoří jeho obsah jsou nám dostupnější než kdy před tím. Žijeme ve společnosti informační, což ale také znamená důležitost kladení důrazu na informačně-etické zacházení s informacemi. Některé státy začaly svobodu internetu omezovat, ale nejsou to jen ony, které mají vliv na internetovou podobu. Také sociální sítě vytvářejí současnou podobu internetu a jelikož jejich uživatelská základna často čítá i několik milionů uživatelů, tak je nutné se ptát, jestli i tyto uživatelské platformy neomezují svobodu na internetu. Cílem práce je porovnat představy uživatelů internetu o jeho svobodě s představami uživatelských platforem. Tohoto cíle bude dosaženo pomocí metody obsahové analýzy dokumentů, jejíž výsledky budou poté porovnány i se závěry z teoretické části práce.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis „The idea of the Internet as a free medium vs. the real state in the context of information ethics" deals with the issue of internet freedom and information from the perspective of the user and from the perspective of user platforms. Currently, the Internet is an essential part of everyday life, and the information that makes up its content is more accessible to us than ever. We live in the information society, which puts the focus on treating the information in an information-ethical way. Some states have begun to restrict the freedom of the Internet, but they are not the only ones that affect the Internet. Also, social networks create the current form of the Internet, and since their user base often includes several million users, it is necessary to ask whether these user platforms also limit freedom of the Internet. The aim of this thesis is to compare the ideas of internet freedom of the internet users and the ideas of user platforms. This goal will be achieved by the content analysis of documents method, the results of which will then be compared with the conclusions from the theoretical part of this thesis.
