Tkáňové inženýrství je relativně mladým interdisciplinárním oborem aplikujícím poznatky věd o živé přírodě, věd materiálních a inženýrství na výzkum biologických implantátů sloužících k obnově poničené tkáně a orgánů a také na vytváření zcela nových orgánů in vitro. Tissue engineering is relatively young interdisciplinary field that applies knowledge of life sciences, material sciences and engineering onto the research of biological implants used for damaged tissue and organ reconstruction and also onto new organs in vitro creation.
