War Trauma in the work of Andrzej Wroblewski: death in the terms of composition.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the person and work of Polish post-war artist, Andrzej Wróblewski. In the Czech Republic and Slovakia he is the person hardly known, but in the context of post-war art he is one of the essential and distinctive artistic elements. Despite the period's rejection of his work, he has developed a distinctly individualistic style in the access to representative art. The aim ot the thesis is to present the person and work of Andrzej Wróblewski, analyze and interpret several groups of images of his post-war work, namely a set of paintings named Executions (1948/49) and other works related to the series dated in the same years, or later ones (1956/1957) and a set of paintings named Nagróbki (1956/57). This thesis should further try to plant his work to responses on war and death of selected world and Polish artists. In this work, I will also seek to define the Wróblewskis´ creation in the field of war trauma, that affected him personally as well as theme of human existence and death, which is an integral part of his life and work.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa zaoberá osobou a dielom poľského povojnového umelca, Andrzeja Wróblewskeho. V Čechách a na Slovensku nie je jeho osoba takmer vôbec známa, no v rámci povojnového umenia je jedným zo zásadných a výrazných umeleckých elementov. Aj napriek dobovému odmietaniu jeho tvorby si vyvinul zreteľne individualistický štýl v prístupe k reprezentatívnemu umeniu. Práca má za cieľ predstaviť osobu a dielo A. Wróblewskeho, analyzovať a interpretovať niekoľko skupín obrazov z jeho povojnovej tvorby, konkrétne cyklus obrazov Exekúcie (1948/49) a práce tomuto cyklu príbuzné, z tých istých alebo neskorších rokov (1956/1957) či sériu diel Nagróbki (1956/57). Práca by sa ďalej pokúsila zasadiť jeho tvorbu do reakcií na vojnu a smrť vybraných svetových a poľských umelcov. V tejto práci sa takisto budem snažiť vymedziť tvorbu Wróblewskeho vo sfére traumy z vojny, ktorá ho osobne zasiahla, a takisto tematiky existencie človeka a smrti, ktorá je neoddeliteľnou súčasťou jeho života a diel.
