Pattern recognition methods for image data analysis

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na oblast analýzy obrazů, především na možnost využití rozpoznávání obrazů z magnetické rezonance mozku při diagnostice schizofrenie. Data jsou zpracována optimalizovanou morfometrií založenou na voxelech a vstupují do algoritmů už jako vyhlazené obrazy koncentrace šedé mozkové hmoty. Pro klasifikaci je použita lineární diskriminační analýza a metoda podpůrných vektorů, jejichž úspěšnost je srovnávána McNemarovým testem. V rešerši jsou popsány dostupné toolboxy, které umožňují použití lineární diskriminační analýzy a metody podpůrných vektorů v programu Matlab. Jednotlivé kroky rozpoznávání jsou aplikovány na dva datové soubory. Nejdříve jsou vyzkoušeny na simulovaných datech geometrických útvarů a následně použity při analýze reálných obrazových dat pacientů s první epizodou schizofrenie a kontrolních subjektů z FN Brno.

Abstract:

The thesis is focussed on the pattern recognition, mainly on the use of the pattern recognition of the magnetic resonance imaging in diagnosis of schizophrenia. The data are preprocessed by the voxel-based morphometry and the inputs of the algorithms are smoothed gray matter images. There were applied two methods for the classification, linear discriminant analysis and support vector machine, which accuracy is compared by the McNemar Test. The research contains available toolboxes for application of linear discriminant analysis and support vector machine in the Matlab software. Particular steps of the pattern recognition are applied on two datasets. At first it is used on simulated data of geometric shapes and subsequently analyzed on the real image dataset of first episode schizophrenic patients and healthy controls from The University Hospital Brno.
