Women's attitudes toward marriage in terms of Social exchange theory

Abstract:

Marriage patterns have undergone significant changes in recent decades. Even in Slovakia, were decreased the number of weddings. Research has typically focused on demographic and economic explanations for this phenomenon. In contrast to these, this study examined social psychological explanation of this phenomenon. This study assessed how well perspective of social exchange theory explained attitudes toward marriage among high school students. The results indicate that in the discussion of marriage patterns should be applied explanations from social exchange theory.

Abstract:

Správanie v oblasti manželstva prešlo v posledných desaťročiach výraznými zmenami. Aj na Slovensku okrem iného klesol počet svadieb. Výskumy sa zameriavajú na demografické a ekonomické vysvetlenia tohto fenoménu. Práca sa na rozdiel od nich snaží ponúknuť vysvetlenie z oblasti sociálnej psychológie. Štúdia hodnotí ako sa dá vysvetliť priaznivosť postojov voči manželstvu medzi vysokoškolskými študentkami cez pohľad teórie sociálnej výmeny. Výledky indikujú, že by sa do diskusie o meniacich sa trendoch v oblasti manželstva mali aj v našom prostredí aplikovať vysvetlenia, ktoré vychádzajú z teórie sociálnej výmeny.
