The Use of Project Management in the Role of a Chief Nurse in the Pulmonary Department at Tomas Bata Regional Hospital

Abstract:

Tématem mé diplomové práce je využití managementu v roli vrchní sestry na plicním od-dělení v Krajské nemocnici T. Bati, a.s. Tato práce využívá nejnovější poznatky manage-mentu a aplikuje je na oblast zdravotnictví. Zaměřuje se na konkrétní činnosti manažera střední linie - vrchní sestry, a řízení chodu plicního oddělení a navrhuje možná zlepšení. Teoretická část práce popisuje východiska obecného managementu a jeho základní fáze. Uplatňuje tyto poznatky v oblasti zdravotnictví, rozebírá jeho aktuální stav a strukturální členění nemocnice. Charakterizuje manažera v ošetřovatelství, jeho vlastnosti a role, a po-pisuje strategické řízení ve zdravotnickém zařízení. Praktická část charakterizuje činnost Krajské nemocnice T. Bati, a.s., popisuje a analyzuje současný stav managementu na plicním oddělení této nemocnice, navrhuje projekt zlepšení a hodnotí jej z hlediska implementace do praxe.

Abstract:

The topic of my thesis is a usage of management in the role of head nurse in the Pulmonary Department at Tomas Bata Hospital, Inc. This work uses the latest knowledge of manage-ment and applies them to the health care sector. The thesis is focused on specific activities of middle manager - head nurse and management of Pulmonary Department as well as the thesis suggests possible improvements. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis describes the general starting point of manage-ment and its basic stages, which are applied on the medical field. Present situation in health service and hospital structure are analyzed. This part also describes manager in nursing, his characteristics and role. The strategic management of health care facility is described as well. The practical part of the work characterizes the activities of Tomas Bata Hospital, Inc. The current state of management in the Pulmonary Department of the hospital is described and analyzed. The final part proposes improvements and evaluation from practice point of view.
