Abstract:

Diplomová práce charakterizuje a analyzuje muzikálové dílo Andrew Lloyd Webbera s detailním zaměřením na užití syntéz jako skladebného principu. Analýza skladatelovy muzikálové tvorby poukazuje na široké spektrum přístupů k hudebnímu i jevištnímu zpracování muzikálových námětů, autorovu schopnost přijímat nejrůznější nejen hudební vlivy a velmi variabilně zacházet s hudebně-textovou materií, a vytvářet tak pozoruhodné a velmi originální syntézy různých prvků v rámci žánru muzikál. Pokus o obecnou charakteristiku autorova kompozičního stylu a doložené hudební ukázky mají být pak rovněž dokladem toho, že ač se sám autor označuje za komerčního skladatele a je vnímán především jako skladatel populární hudby, ve skutečnosti stojí na pomezí hudby artificiální a non-artificiální. Diplomová práce se dále detailněji zabývá muzikálem Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, na kterém lze nejlépe vysledovat pro Andrew Lloyd Webbera nejtypičtější syntetické skladebné principy a zároveň je na tomto díle založena praktická část diplomové práce, která se zabývá celkovým vnímáním a hodnocením daného díla vybranými recipienty, opět s důrazem především na to, jak dalece si všímají syntetických skladebných přístupů autora. Součástí této práce je také přílohový aparát, který mj. obsahuje dva hudební nosiče s ukázkami, které se vztahují k textu; diplomová práce tak může rovněž fungovat jako antologie Lloyd Webberovy muzikálové tvorby.

Abstract:

The thesis describes and analyses the musicals of Andrew Lloyd Webber with more detailed focus on his use of syntheses as a fundamental principle of his musical compositions. Particular analyses of his musical works point out his specific approach to different musical themes and how he deals with their musical and scenic development. They also prove his immense ability to absorb various not only musical elements and consequently produce remarkable and very original syntheses in his musical works. The attempt of a general characterization of Lloyd Webber?s style of musical composition and particular auditive examples should also illustrate the fact, that even if the author classifies himself as a composer of popular and commercial music, he is in fact standing on the border of art music (or serious music) and popular music. The thesis further employs more detailed insight into the work of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which probably illustrates Lloyd Webber?s synthetic principles the best. This musical furthermore also served as the basis for the explorational part of this thesis which examins the overall perception and aesthetic evaluation of this musical by selected audience, again with a special focus on their perception of Lloyd Webber?s specific synthetic approaches developed in this work. As a part of the appendices, find enclosed also 2 CDs, which include both auditive and audiovisual text related examples. This thesis can then also serve as an anthology of Lloyd Webber?s musical work
