Území Mostecka se řadí mezi staré průmyslové regiony, a stejně tak i mezi regiony postižené těžbou hnědého uhlí i jeho zpracováním. Předpokládaným faktem však je, že se úloha odvětví těžby a jeho přesah do dalších odvětví ekonomiky bude v čase zmenšovat. The district of Most region belongs to one of the old industrial regions, as well as among the regions affected by the mining of brown coal and its processing.
