Mass media representation of war invalid by social periodical of the First Republic. Discourse analysis of texts of Válečný poškozenec magazine

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá mediální reprezentací válečného invalidy v období po první světové válce. Analyzované texty pochází z časopisu Válečný poškozenec. Toto periodikum vycházelo v poválečném období a jako první se plně věnovalo problematice válečných invalidů. Cílem této analýzy je určit a popsat mechanismy utváření mediálního obrazu válečného invalidy a také odhalit diskurzivní modely, které jsou s postavou válečného invalidy spojovány. Pro dosažení tohoto cíle jsme zvolili metodu diskurzivní analýzy. Využitím této analýzy bude možné určit, jaký byl mediální obraz válečného invalidy v určeném časovém úseku. Práci rozdělujeme na teoretickou a analytickou část. V teoretické části vycházím z konceptu sociálně-konstruktivistické teorie autorů Bergera a Luckmanna, z diskurzivních oblastí Jamese Paula Geeho a z ideologických modů, které definoval John B. Thompson. V analytické části se pak věnujeme vlastnímu výzkumu, tedy analýze vybraných textů v časopise Válečný poškozenec.

Abstract:

My bachelor's degree thesis analyses mass media representation of the post-war handicapped, a subject matter thereof. Assessed extracts come from the periodical of the name of Valecny poskozenec, possibly interpreted as A Post-War Impaired. The post-war period was when this periodical began to be published and stood as the only one to devote its complete attention to the post-war handicapped. Determination and successive description of the contemporary mass media means of and patterns to representation of the post-war handicapped and exploration of discursive instruments as regards the post-war handicapped is the analyses objective. In order to achieve this objective, I have deployed a discursive pattern of analysing its core, by which doing the assessment of media coverage that the post-war handicapped received per a certain period of time will prove to be doable. The thesis is divided into theoretical and interpretative parts. The theoretical part is based on the social construction of reality theory by P. L. Berger and T. Luckmann, the discursive realms of James Paul Gee and lastly John B. Thomson's ideological modes. In the interpretative part, I follow through with research of my own, having assessed extracts from Valecny poskozenec.
