By grandparents - traditional embroidery technique in the context of contemporary art

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci se zaměřuji na tvorbu s tradiční textilní technikou - vyšívání. V teoretické části práce uvádím, jak se tato tradiční technika uplatňuje v současném umění. Dále popisuji tvorbu umělců, jež s textilem pracují, například dílo českého umělce Michala Pěchoučka či zahraniční tvorbu Gilliana Batese. V práci chci poukázat na neobvyklé přístupy a užití této tradičně řemeslné a dekorativní techniky. Vyšívání se také váže k vlastní rodinné tradici, neboť babička dříve vyšívala a sama mám k vyšívání blízký vztah. V praktické části se snažím tuto tradici transformovat do uměleckého díla. Dílčími inspiračními momenty jsou staré vyšívané dečky, typický interiér domu prarodičů a jeho bezčasí. V další části navrhuji a realizuji výtvarně-pedagogický přesah, který vztahuji k řešeným tématům a k práci s textilním materiálem. Výstupem bakalářské práce je tvůrčí projekt, jenž bude prezentován na výstavě bakalářských a diplomových prací pořádané Katedrou výtvarné kultury Univerzity J. E. Purkyně v Ústí nad Labem.

Abstract:

In bachelor thesis, I focus on creation with traditional textile technique - embroidery. In the theoretical part, I describe how this traditional technique is applied in contemporary art. I also describe the work of artists working with textiles, such as the work of Czech artist Michal Pěchouček and the work of foreign artist Gillian Bates. At work, I want to point out unusual approaches and use of this traditional craft and decorative technique. Embroidering is also related to family tradition because my grandmother had previously embroidered and I have a close relationship to embroidery. In the practical part, I try to transform this tradition into an artwork. Partial inspirational moments are old embroidered blankets, a typical interior of the grandparents' house and its timelessness. In the next part, I propose and realize an artistic-pedagogical overlap, which relates to the solved themes and to the work with the textile material. The output of the bachelor thesis is a creative project, which will be presented at the exhibition of bachelor and diploma theses organized by the Department of Fine Arts of J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem.
