Implementation of the principles of the palliative care in facilities for the elderly

Abstract:

ABSTRAKT Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jakým způsobem je poskytována paliativní péče v zařízeních pro seniory a jaká je informovanost o ní u ošetřujícího personálu. Metodika : Soubor tvořilo 70 respondentů pracujících v zařízení pro seniory. Průzkum byl realizován v zimních měsících roku 2009 pomocí dotazníku. Výsledky byly zpracovány pomocí programu MS Excel do tabulek a grafů. Výsledky : Průzkumem bylo zjištěno, že respondenti jsou v nadpoloviční většině informováni o principech paliativní péče a že se s nimi setkali i v praxi. Většina respondentů navštěvuje aktivně semináře týkající se paliativní péče, a pouze minimum respondentů uvedlo, že považuje vzdělávání v této oblasti za nepodstatné. Komunikaci s klienty a jejich blízkými považuje většina respondentů za důležitou a snaží se o ní, ale pouze v případě,že o ni klient, či jeho rodina projeví zájem. Většina respondentů uvedla, že se snaží být nablízku klientovi který umírá a ihned jak je to možné informovat jeho rodinu. Všichni zúčastnění respondenti uvedli, že by uvítali spolupráci s odborníky interdisciplinárního týmu a někteří dotázaní uvedli že tato spolupráce už na jejich pracovišti funguje. Závěr : V závěru lze konstatovat, že informovanost ošetřujícího personálu o principech paliativní péče je dobrá a je integrována do ošetřovatelské péče o seniory.Zároveň je velmi pozitivní, že nadpoloviční většina respondentů má zájem aktivně prohlubovat své vědomosti o paliativní péči. Paliativní péče by se měla stát nedílnou součástí výuky oboru ošetřovatelství a ošetřovatelských kurzů a to nejen paliativní péče týkající se onkologicky nemocných, ale především chronicky nemocných dospělých a dětí v terminálních stádiích nemoci. Abstract:

ABSTRACT Goal: The aim of this work was to determine how the palliative care provided in facilities for the elderly and what is the awareness of the staff for attending. Method: The respondents consisted of 70 workers at the facility for the elderly. The survey was conducted in the winter of 2009 using a questionnaire. The results were processed by using MS Excel tables and graphs. Results: The survey found that respondents are aware of the absolute majority of the principles of palliative care and that they are met in practice. The majority of respondents actively attend seminars relating to palliative care, and only a minimum of respondents reported that they consider education in this field as irrelevant. Communication with clients and their loved ones, most respondents regarded as important and seeks to it, but only if the client about her or his family is interested. Most respondents indicated that it seeks to be close to the client dies and immediately as possible to inform his family. All interested respondents indicated that they would welcome collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and some respondents said that such cooperation already in their workplace operates. Conclusion: In conclusion, the awareness of the attending staff on the principles of palliative care is good and is integrated into the nursing care of the seniory.It is very positive that the absolute majority of respondents are interested to actively enhance their knowledge of palliative care. Palliative care should become an integral part of teaching the field of nursing and nursing courses and not only palliative care for the sick onkologic, but especially the chronically ill adults and children in the terminal stage of illness.
