The grieving process of the bereaved parent and the subsequent care of the bereaved child

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá procesem truchlení u pozůstalého rodiče a následnou péčí o pozůstalé dítě. Cílem je popsat proces truchlení a zjistit, jak ovlivňuje následnou péči. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na umírání, jeho akceptaci a druhy péče. Je popsán proces truchlení a komunikace s dětmi včetně péče o děti. Pro výzkum bylo využito kvalitativní metodologie. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo celkem 8 vdov a vdovců. K získání výzkumného souboru byla zvolena metoda prostého záměrného výběru, samovýběru a sněhové koule. Ke sběru dat byl použit polostrukturovaný rozhovor. Pomocí zakotvené teorie byla za centrální kategorii zvolena ztráta. Proces truchlení ovlivňuje několik faktorů. Patří zde doba truchlení v závislosti na způsobu úmrtí partnera, očekávanost ztráty, akceptace smrti, vyrovnávací strategie a pomoc blízkého okolí. Ve většině rodin zůstává kvalita péče stejná nebo dochází k jejímu zlepšení. Následná péče je ovlivněna několika faktory. Komunikací v rodině, společným truchlením a financemi. Určitou roli hraje i psychologická péče a pomoc dětí zařizovat pohřeb. V rodinách dochází ke změnám roli jednotlivých členů, přičemž více se po smrti musejí naučit ženy a roli po zesnulém rodiči přebírají spíše dcery než synové.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the grieving process of the bereaved parent and the subsequent care of the bereaved child. The aim is to describe the grieving process and to find out how it affects the aftercare. The theoretical part focuses on dying, its acceptance, and types of care. The process of grieving, communication with children, and child bereavement care is described. A qualitative methodology was used for the research. The research sample consisted of a total of 8 widows and widowers, who were selected using simple purposive sampling, self-selection, and the snowball sampling method. A semi-structured interview was used to collect the data. Using grounded theory, loss was chosen as the central category. The grieving process was found to be influenced by several factors, which include the length of time spent grieving depending on the manner of death of the partner, expectancy of loss, acceptance of death, coping strategies, and the help of close others. In most families, the quality of care remains the same or is improved. Aftercare is influenced by several factors including communication within the family, shared grieving, and finances. Psychological care and children helping to arrange the funeral also play a role. In families, the roles of individual members undergo changes, with women having to earn new skills after the loss and daughters taking on the role of the late parent rather than sons.
