Hijab - a religious symbol?
Abstract:
Práce se zabývá otázkou, zda je hidžáb na Západě brán jako náboženský symbol, případně zda jako takový požívá zvláštní právní ochrany, či naopak. Věnuje se také společenskému kontextu, ve kterém se zahalené muslimky pohybují, co hidžáb znamená pro ně a co znamená pro jejich okolí. Abstract:
The thesis deals with the question of hijab being a religious symbol. Since Islam is gaining more powerful voice both in Europe and the USA, this question will be discussed in the context of public space in France and in the USA. There are major differences in how French and Americans understand the role of religion in the life of society and the thesis will show how it effects the reaction to veiled …more
