The main aim of the present thesis is to analyse a Restoration and an 18th-century adaptation of Shakespeare’s early comedy The Taming of the Shrew (1623), Sauny the Scot; or, The Taming of the Shrew (1667) by John Lacy and Catharine and Petruchio (1754) by David Garrick. Since the theatres underwent a number of important changes during the Restoration and the 18th century, the thesis tries to trace …more
