Racial Stereotypes in Tom and Jerry
Abstract:
Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na zobrazení rasistických stereotypů a jejich následnou cenzuru v populárním americkém animovaném seriálu Tom a Jerry. Práce vychází z teoretického základu jednotlivých rasistických stereotypů a popisuje je ve spojení s výskytem stereotypů v seriálu. V práci je také výpočet všech scén cenzurovaných v druhé polovině padesátých let.
Abstract:
This Bachelor Thesis is focused on the portrayal of racist stereotypes and their later censorship in a popular American cartoon Tom and Jerry. The thesis discusses individual stereotypes on the basis of a theoretical background and describes the connections with their portrayal in the cartoon. The thesis also contains a list of scenes censored in the 1950s.
