Transformational and transactional leadership and intelligence of leaders

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se v teoretické části nejprve věnuje leadershipu, jeho historii a teoriím, které jednak předcházely vzniku dvěma z nich, a to transakční a transformační teorii leadershipu, a poté oběma z nich. Tato teoretická východiska jsou v práci dále aplikována do personální praxe v ČR, když je ověřována existence vztahu mezi těmito typy leadershipu a významnou osobnostní charakteristikou leaderů – jejich inteligencí. Blíže se pak práce zabývá fluidní inteligencí a jejími složkami ve vztahu k transformačnímu a transakčnímu leaderhshipu. Výzkumná část je postavena na dotazníkovém šetření mezi padesáti následovníky leaderů (vždy dva následovníci na každého leadera). Ti v něm hodnotí své vnímání leadershipu, který praktikují jejich nadřízení. Fluidní inteligence leaderů je měřena pomocí testu struktury inteligence I-S-T 2000 R. Existence vztahu mezi zmíněnými proměnnými je ověřována pomocí korelace. Výsledky jsou zpracovány do podoby tabulek a grafů a probrány s odkazem na teoretická východiska v diskuzi.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the theoretical basis of leadership, it´s history and theories, primarily those that preceded two of them: transactional and transformational theories of leadership, and then the two of them. This theoretical background is then applied to personnel practice in the Czech Republic, when there is a verification of the existence of the relationship between these types of leadership and a significant personal characteristic of the leaders – their intelligence. Closer, the work drala with a fluid intelligence and its components in relation to the transformational and transactional leadership. The empirical part of the thesis is based on a survey among fifty leaders´ followers (two followers for each leader), in which they evaluate their perception of their leaders´ leadership style. The fluid intelligence of the leaders is measured by a test of the intelligence structure (I-S-T 2000 R). The existence of the relationship between these variables is assessed through correlation. Results are presented in the form of tables and charts and discussed with reference to the theoretical basis.
