Socio-cultural differences in the management of men and women in the hotel industry in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá sociokulturními, resp. genderovými, rozdíly mezi muži a ženami, a odrazem těchto skutečností v souvislostech s managementem mužů a žen hotelového průmyslu v České republice. Předmětem analýzy se stali studenti se zkušenostmi z hotelového a gastronomického odvětví, po nichž byli vybráni a kontaktováni vedoucí pracovníci z různých stupňů managementu. V analytické části je podrobněji popsána metodika praktického výzkumu, kde jsme pro účely této práce zvolili kvantitativní formu dotazování prostřednictvím dvou verzí dotazníků. Cílem této bakalářské práce je zjistit, jeli v České republice zastoupeno v manažerských pozicích více mužů či žen, a zdali jsou rozdíly v rovnoprávnosti mezi nimi, pokud existují, zapříčiněny historicky přetrvávajícími předsudky, nebo je důvod skrytý v psychologických aspektech. Z výsledků analytické části vyplynulo, že naši respondenti o genderu a genderové problematice mezi muži a ženami s ohledem na hotelnictví v České republice mají určité povědomí. Prostřednictví výzkumných otázek dali najevo svoje názory ohledně příčin rozdílnosti mezi muži a ženami, a také ohledně existence odlišností v řízení ubytovacích zařízení manažerem nebo manažerkou. V návrhové části jsou zmíněná doporučení pro dosažení rovnoprávnosti v managementu oboru hotelnictví v ČR.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the socio-cultural, resp. gender, differences between men and women, and consideration these factors in the management of men and women in the hotel industry in the Czech Republic. For the subject of the analysis became students with experiences in hotel and gastronomy industry, then managers from various levels of management were selected and contacted. In the analytical part is described in detail the methodology of practical research, where we chose for the purpose of this work a quantitative form of questioning through two versions of questionnaires. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out if more men or women are represented in managerial positions in the Czech Republic, and whether the differences in equality between them, if they exist, are caused by historically persistent prejudices or the reason is hidden in psychological aspects. The results of the analytical part showed that people are aware of the gender issues and problems between men and women in the hotel industry in the Czech Republic. Means of research questions about opportunities, differences between men and women, with regard to existence and problem solving. In the design part there are mentioned recommendations for achieving equality in the management of the hotel industry in the Czech Republic.
