How is man´s identity changing with coming of a child?

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá mužskou identitou, a to především z hlediska sociálního konstruktivismu, pro který je identita jedince výsledkem interakcí a neustálého vyjednávání. Práce zkoumá, skrze jaké strategie je identita mužů reprodukována po příchodu potomka, jaké faktory se podílí na přeměně muže v otce a jaké motivy muže k rodičovské roli vedou. Empirická část práce ukazuje, že otcovská součást mužské identity je do značné míry závislá na přístupu partnerek, které mužům vymezují mantinely pro výkon otcovské role.

Abstract:

The work deals with male identity, particularly in terms of social constructivism, for which the identity of the individual result from interaction and negotiation. The work explores, what strategies are used for reproduction of male identity after the arrival of a child, what factors are involved in the transformation of men in the father and what motives may lead men to a parental role. The research shows that the paternal component of male identity is largely dependent on access of partners, which create the boundaries for the exercise of the paternal role.
