Yemen conflict analysis as a proxy war with religious motives

Abstract:

Diplomová práce analyzuje ozbrojený konflikt, který probíhá na území Jemenu. Zaměřena je na období od roku 2014 do současnosti. V první části práce představuje teoretický základ, týkající se způsobů analýzy a řešení ozbrojených konfliktů. Důraz je kladen na pojmy jako zástupná válka a dále náboženský konflikt uvnitř islámu. Druhá část práce je zaměřena na samotnou analýzu konfliktu, hledání příčin jeho vzniku, představeni jsou také aktéři, kteří se na konfliktu podílí, včetně jejich cílů, motivace a způsobu zapojení. V poslední části práce je analyzován samotný průběh současného konfliktu s důrazem na zapojení hlavních aktérů.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis analyses the armed conflict that takes place in Yemen. It is focused on the period from 2014 to the present. In the first part the thesis introduces theoretical basis concerning methods of armed conflict analysis. It is focused on concepts of proxy war and Islamic religious inner conflict. Second part of the thesis analyses the conflict itself, it tries to discover causes of the conflict, describes the actors, that take place in the conflict, including their goals, motivation and ways of their involvement. The last part of the thesis analyses course of the current armed conflict, with the main focus on involvement of the main actors.
