Diplomová práce se zabývá historickým kontextem trestu smrti na území ČR resp. ČSSR od první republiky až po jeho zrušení v roce 1990. Zaměřuje se na popis smyslu a účelu trestu, včetně jeho funkcí. Dále je věnována pozornost nejčastějším argumentům pro a proti výkonu tohoto trestu a organizaci Amnesty International, která celosvětově bojuje proti jeho využívání. The thesis deals with the historical context of the death penalty in the Czech Republic and the Czechoslovakia from the First Republic to its abolition in 1990. It focuses on the description of the meaning and purpose of the punishment, including its functions.
