Abstract:
The thesis provides an overview of the history of the Métis people from the events preceeding the Manitoba Act to the trial and execution of Louis Riel, and offers a brief analysis of the legacy of Louis Riel in three works of Canadian literature, an overview of monuments and places dedicated to Riel, and his legacy in Canadian politics.
