Culture-bound Issues in Subtitling: A Comparative Study of Films for Adult vs. Young Audiences
Abstract:
Diplomová práce se zabývá kulturními referencemi v anglicky mluvených filmech a jejich titulkovým překladem do češtiny. Porovnává překlad těchto referencí ve filmech určených dětskému divákovi a dospělému divákovi. Analyzuje 7 vybraných filmů a sleduje, jaké překladatelské postupy byly použity.
Abstract:
The thesis deals with culture-specifics in subtitling from a comparative point of view. It focuses on 7 feature films and analyzes the way in which the particular cultural references have been translated from English into Czech. It compares the translational strategies used in the films for adult audiences versus young audiences.
