The Impact of the Great Potato Famine on the Irish Society

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis describes the course of the Great Famine in Ireland and its consequences. It also focuses on the part of history before these events occurred, such as the invasion of the Norman armies, the Tudor period and the time of Daniel O'Connell. The other section focuses on defining the famine itself and the diseases associated with it. It develops the origins and causes of the famine, along with the period between 1845 and 1850. Lastly, it looks at the methods of burial, the rate of emigration, and the way in which people emigrated.

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci je popsán průběh Velkého hladomoru v Irsku a jeho následky. Zaměřuje se i na část historie před vznikem těchto událostí, například vpád normanských vojsk, období vlády Tudorovců nebo dobu Daniela O'Connela. V další části se zaměřuje na definici samotného hladomoru a nemocí s ním spojených. Rozvíjí počátek a příčiny vzniku hladomoru, společně s dobou mezi léty 1845 a 1850. V neposlední řadě se zajímá o způsob pohřbívání, míru emigrace a způsob jakým lidé emigrovali
