Role of Energy Policy in Russia-China Relations

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá vzájemnými vztahy Ruska a Číny a rolí, kterou v nich hraje energetická politika. Hypotézou práce je, že pozitivní energetická politika Ruska vůči Číně, je klíčovým prvkem úspěšného rozvoje vzájemných vztahů a posilování ruské pozice v bilaterálních interakcích. Protože je těžké definovat míru úspěšnosti a vlivu, budeme danou hypotézu ověřovat skrze rozbor následujících výzkumných otázek. 1.Jak se vyvíjel charakter energetických sektorů a aktérů v obou zemích od konce studené války a jak se vyvíjel jejich vliv na zahraniční politiku? 2. Jak se vyvíjely energetické vztahy Ruska a Číny od konce studené války? 3.Jaké další faktory kromě energetické politiky mohly ovlivnit rozvíjený vztah Ruska a Číny a jaký byl jejich význam v tomto procesu? Práce k těmto otázkám přistupovat skrze empiricko-analytický rozbor a bude se snažit důkladně představit vznik a vývoj energetického sektoru v obou zemích, utváření významných energetických aktérů a vliv energetické politiky na zahraniční vztahy obou států.

Abstract:

The Diploma Thesis is dealing with mutual relations of Russia and China the role of energy policy in these interactions. The hypothesis of this Paper is as follows - the positive energy policy of Russia towards China is the key component for developing successful relations with each other and for strenghtening Russian position in these relations. Because it is difficult to objectively define the success or influence, we will be verifying the hypothesis through following research questions. 1. How the character of Chinese and Russian energy sectors and their influence on the foreign policy has been developing since the end of the Cold War? 2. How the mutual energy relations between China and Russia have been developing since the end of the Cold War? 3.What other factors than energy policy could have been influencing the mutual relations of Russia and China? The Thesis will use the empirical-analytical approach and will try to introduce the reader with emergence and development of energy sectors, their actors and their influence on national foreign policy.
