Development of selected economic indicators of Visegrad Group countries in comparison to the development of the European Union

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je porovnání ekonomické situace zemí Visegrádské čtyřky s EU jako s celkem. Pro tento účel jsou v práci použity hlavní makroekonomické ukazatele, kterými jsou hrubý domácí produkt, míra inflace a míra nezaměstnanosti. Období, které je v práci analyzováno, začíná rokem 2004, což je rok vstupu všech členů Visegrádské čtyřky do Evropské unie, a končí rokem 2017. Práce je rozdělená na dvě části – teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části jsou definovány a popsány vybrané makroekonomické ukazatele, také jsou objasněny metody jejich měření. Praktická část obsahuje analýzu konkrétních hodnot ukazatelů, porovnání jejich vývoje ve V4 navzájem a srovnání s Evropskou unií jako s celkem. V závěru práce je uvedeno shrnutí provedené analýzy hospodářského vývoje jednotlivých států Visegrádské čtyřky v kontextu EU.Výsledkem práce je zjištění, že během sledovaného období v zemích Visegrádské čtyřky se ekonomická situace výrazně zlepšila. Ve všech zemích poměrně rychle probíhal hospodářský růst, došlo ke snížení míry inflace a míry nezaměstnanosti. Ve srovnání s EU Visegrádská čtyřka často vykazovala lepší hodnoty makroekonomických ukazatelů a nejlépe ze všech zemí na tom byla Česká republika.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to compare the economic situation in the Visegrad countries with the European Union. For this purpose are used main macroeconomic indicators, which are gross domestic product, inflation rate and unemployment rate. The analyzed period begins in 2004, which is the year of entry of all Visegrad four members into the European Union and ends in 2017. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and analytical. Selected macroeconomic indicators are defined and described in the theoretical part as well as the methods of their measurement. The analytical part contains analysis of concrete values of indicators, comparison of their development in Visegrad countries with each other, and with the European Union as a whole. In conclusion, there is a summary of the analysis of economic development of Visegrad countries in the context of European Union.The result of this work is finding, that during the monitored period in the Visegrad countries the economic situation has improved significantly. Economic growth has been rapid in all countries, with the rate of inflation and unemployment falling. In comparison to the EU, the Visegrad Four was often showing better results, especially Czech Republic.
