The graduates of the Humanities and Social Sciences on the Labour Market in Prague

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je věnována problematice připravenosti absolventů vysokých škol pro vstup na trh práce. Pozornost je zaměřena na momentálně již zaměstnané jedince v Praze, kteří úspěšně dokončili studium humanitního či sociálního oboru. Propojení teoretické části prezentující klíčové koncepty, pojmy a stávající zjištění a části empirické představující zjištění z vlastního šetření se pokouší nabídnout komplexní pohled na zkoumaný problém, který je aktuální ve velké části Evropy. Vysokoškolské vzdělání v některých oborech studia přestává být samo o sobě jistotou pro nalezení uplatnění a absolventi se musí při vstupu na trh práce s touto skutečností vyrovnat. Klíčovým faktorem se ukazuje být zejména získaná praktická pracovní zkušenost během studia a další žádané kompetence. Ve vlastním výzkumu je sledována dvojí perspektiva – hlavní část výzkumu je postavena na hloubkových rozhovorech se samotnými absolventy zaměstnanci, perspektiva zaměstnavatelů je pak zajištěna skrze písemné dotazování personalistů. Celkem bylo provedeno 12 rozhovorů s absolventy různých oborů ve věku 25 – 32 let působících na odlišných pozicích. Odpovědi poskytlo rovněž 7 personalistů, kteří za sebou mají odlišnou dobu působení v personální oblasti. Kontrastem získaným mezi subjektivním hodnocením připravenosti absolventů obou zainteresovaných stran se práce snaží mimo jiné odhalit oblasti, ve kterých je třeba změnit přístup, aby přechod na trh práce byl efektivnější.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis is dealing with the issue of university graduates and their prepareness for labour market. It is focusing on individuals who successfully finished their humanities or social studies and now are already employed in Prague. Conecting the first part, which presents key concepts, terms and current findings, with the second empirical part, which is presenting new findings derivated from author’s own research, thesis is trying to present a complex view to the issue, which is topical in major part of Europe. Academic degree from some certain fields is no more a warranty of finding a job and graduates must deal with this fact when entering the labour market. Practical work experience gained during the study and other desired competences turn out to be a key factor in such situation. There is a double perspective observed in the research - main part is based on interviews with employed graduates, the point of view of employers is presented via written survey among personalists. In total there were 12 interviews conducted with graduates from different fields, all of them in age 25 – 32 years old and recently working at different positions. The questions were also answered by 7 personalists who have spent different time in their profession. Based on the contrast between subjective classifications of prepareness of graduates from points of view of both interested parties, the thesis is among other things aspiring to discover domains where there is needed to change the approach to the issue in order to ease and streamline entering the labour market.
