Russia-Israel relations after the end of the Cold War

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce si klade za cíl analyzovat dynamiku vývoje vztahů mezi Izraelem a Ruskem po konci studené války až do současnosti. Práce je zaměřená na vztahy těchto dvou aktérů za ruských prezidentů Borise Jelcina, Vladimira Putina a Dmitrija Medveděva. Cílem je zjistit, jaký postoj zastávali tito ruští prezidenti k Izraeli a k jaké dynamice vývoje vztahů za jejich funkčního období došlo. Práce se dále zaměřuje i na angažovanost Ruské federace na blízkovýchodním mírovém procesu. Zvláště je vyzdvižena činnost Blízkovýchodního kvartetu, jejímž členem je Rusko. V rámci práce bude zkoumáno, jaké jsou případné pohnutky Ruska se v této oblasti angažovat a zda se zájmy v průběhu času mění. Nejenom politické spolupráci je věnována pozornost, ale je analyzována i vojenská a ekonomická. V tomto kontextu je snaha identifikovat oblasti spolupráce, která jsou v současnosti zdůrazněny, a hlavní faktory, které ovlivňují dnešní vztahy mezi Ruskem a Izraelem.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis aims to analyse the dynamics of development of relations between Israel and Russia after the end of the Cold War to the present. The work is focused on the relations of the two actors as Russian president Boris Yeltsin, Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev. The aim is to determine what position they held Russian presidents to Israel and what the dynamics of development of the relations for their tenure there. The work also focuses on the involvement of the Russian Federation for the Middle East peace process. Particularly the thesis highlighted the activities of the Middle East Quartet, whose members include Russia. As part of the work will be investigated, what are the motives of Russia in this area involved and whether the interests changes over time. Not only political cooperation is addressed, but also analyse military and economic. In this context, efforts to identify areas of cooperation that are currently highlighted and what the factors are those affect today's relations between Russia and Israel.
