This thesis provides a comparative analysis of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby and its two film adaptation, directed by Jack Clayton and Baz Luhrmann, focusing on the significant omissions and changes of the plot to accentuate the romantic potential of the story and thus classify the films in Hollywood genre system.
