Abstract:

ZAHRADNÍK, Sebastian. Crisis management in Hospitality, Gastronomy and Tourism. [Bachelor thesis] University College Prague – College of International Relations and Institute of Hospitality Management and Economics, Ltd. Prague: 2023. 64 pages. This bachelor thesis is focused on crisis management in hospitality and gastronomy, in particular analyzing preparedness on crises of the employees and small businesses in hospitality and gastronomy in Czech Republic, and educational needs. The theoretical part is focused on definition of crisis, types and stages of crisis, crisis management and employees, and the analysis of educational materials needs. In practical part the investigation to answer the research questions [1) Is there a difference between preparedness of educated workers in hospitality and gastronomy and non-educated workers for crisis scenarios? 2) Do the small gastronomy and hospitality businesses have training for crisis scenarios and crisis management plan in place? 3) Do stakeholders feel need for the educational materials connected to crisis management and crisis managing skills?] is conducted with the help of insights from the theory. The chosen methodology to fulfil the aims and research questions was interview with five professionals in hospitality and gastronomy, and questionnaire distributed between hospitality and gastronomy employees in Czech Republic. Recommendations were made along with interpretation of the results of both questionnaire and interviews together. In conclusion, this bachelor thesis shows that the field of crisis management in the hospitality and gastronomy sector in the Czech Republic needs a significant development and improvement.
