Methodological recommendations for English language teachers of pupils in 1st and 2nd year of Primary school

Abstract:

V teoretické části diplomové práce se zabýváme definicí mateřského a cizího jazyka a dále vhodným obdobím pro začátek výuky cizímu jazyku. Pozornost zde věnujeme tzv. kritickému období pro výuku cizích jazyků. V dalších kapitolách se zaměřujeme na charakteristiku žáků mladšího školního věku a jejich fyzického, psychomotorického a kognitivního vývoje. Následovně uvádíme možné výhody a úskalí ve výuce žáků tohoto věku. Seznamujeme se s různými učebními styly žáků zaměřenými na jejich smyslové preference. Dále se věnujeme aktivizačním metodám vhodným k výuce anglického jazyka pro žáky mladšího školního věku. V praktické části uvádíme konkrétní metodická doporučení pro učitele anglického jazyka v 1. a 2. ročnících ZŠ. V dalších kapitolách jsme rozpracovali podrobné učební přípravy, aktivity a typy na materiály vhodných do výuky anglického jazyka.

Abstract:

In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis, we deal with the definition of mother tongue and foreign language, and then the appropriate time for the beginning of learning a foreign language. Here we pay attention to the so-called critical period for teaching foreign languages. In the next chapters, we focus on the characteristics of younger school age pupils and their physical, psychomotor and cognitive development. As following we state the likely benefits and pitfalls of teaching pupils of this age. We get to know the different learning styles focused on the sensory preferences of the pupils. We also concentrate on activating methods suitable for teaching English to pupils of younger school age. In the practical part we introduce specific methodical recommendations for English language teachers in the 1st and 2nd grades of elementary school. In the next chapters, we elaborated detailed learning preparations, activities and types of materials suitable for teaching the English language.
