Rural Museums in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Obsahem této práce je celkový přehled venkovských muzeí v České republice. Teoretická část definuje venkov, muzeum, venkovské turistické destinace a fungování samotných venkovských muzeí. Řeší se problém, zda jsou venkovská muzea prostředkem pro rozvoj cestovního ruchu nebo k zachování kulturního a přírodního dědictví. V práci je řešen jejich vznik, fungování, hierarchie, navštěvování, tematika a rozmístění. Tři venkovská muzea jsou zde v případových studiích podrobně prozkoumána a popsána. Dále jsou řešeny shody a rozdíly mezi těmito případy. Zjištěním je, že ve většině případů je primární funkcí venkovských muzeí zachování dědictví před rozvojem cestovního ruchu. Nepopírá se, že venkovská muzea mohou mít vliv na rozvoj cestovního ruchu.

Abstract:

This thesis provides an overview of rural museums in the Czech Republic. Theoretical part defines rural area, museum, rural tourist destinations and functioning of rural museums. It solves the problem what the rural museums are a mean of tourism development or whether they preserve cultural and natural heritage. This thesis also dealt with their formation, functioning, hierarchy, visits, themes and placement of museums. In case studies, three rural museums are examined and described in details as well as similarities and differences between them. Finding is that in most cases, preserving heritage is the primary function of rural museums, not the tourism development. However, It is not disputed that the rural museums may have an impact on tourism development.
