Diversity Management in Selected Companies in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diverzity management je relativně novou manažerskou disciplínou, která vnímá odlišné charakteristiky pracovníků nejen jako žádoucí, ale jako nástroj zvyšování efektivity. Demografický vývoj ekonomicky vyspělých zemí, ale i dopady globalizace a propojování trhu naznačují, že otázka heterogenity pracovní síly bude čím dál více aktuální. Přizpůsobení pracovního prostředírozmanitým skupinám zaměstnanců představuje pro manažery velkou výzvu. Cílem předkládané magisterské diplomové práce je přiblížit způsoby praktikování řízení rozmanitosti ve vybraných společnostech působících na českém trhu práce. Autorka se zaměřila na zkoumání podob diverzity managementu skrze postoje manažerů vybraných organizací k tomuto konceptu a jejich různá pojetí. Výzkum byl realizován pomocí semi-strukturovaných rozhovorů s manažer z oblasti Human Resources. V teoretické části autorka seznamuje s podstatou managementu a představuje koncept diverzity managementu. Metodologická část uvádí uvádí cíl a charakter výzkumu, včetně jednotlivých metod. Empirická část shrnuje odpovědi na dílčí výzkumné otázky a podává celkový obraz pojetí diverzity managementu ve vybraných organizacích.

Abstract:

Management of diversity is a relatively new managerial discipline that perceives differences in workers not only as desirable but also as a tool for increasing efficiency. The demographic development in economically sound countries plus the impact of globalisation and interconnectedness of markets indicate the future prominence of heterogeneous work groups. The adaptation of work environment for diverse groups of employees constitutes a great challenge for managers. The goal of this diploma thesis is to bring together the many ways diversity management is treated in selected companies operating on the Czech labour market. The author concentrated on exploring the numerous representations of diversity management as manifested in attitudes of managers in the selected companies towards this concept and their various approaches. The research was carried out through the means of semi-structured interviews with Human Resources managers. Throughout the theoretical part the author acquaints the reader with the essence of management and introduces the concept of diversity management. The methodology part features the goal and nature of the research including the applied methods. The empirical part encloses answers to partial research questions and provides a comprehensive image of the many ways diversity management is dealt with in the selected companies.
