The Reception of Franz Kafka in Czechoslovakia between 1963 - 1968

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the reception of Franz Kafka's work in Czechoslovakia after the Kafka Conference in Liblice until the Soviet occupation, that is between the years 1963 and 1968. Attention is paid to Kafka's interpretation in correlation with the Marxist vision of the world, the influence of such a vision on the opening of Kafka's work to the Czech public and the development of the reception depending on the ideological context. The bachelor thesis aims to illustrate, on the example of Kafka's reception, the influence of the power practices by which the then regime controlled the cultural life and thus the thinking of the people and will point out the importance of Kafka's works for the Czech culture of that time.

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářské práce se zabývá recepcí díla Franze Kafky v Československu po liblické konferenci až do sovětské okupace, tedy v období mezi roky 1963 a 1968. Pozornost je věnována interpretaci Kafky v rámci marxistického vidění světa, jeho vlivu na zpřístupnění Kafkova díla české veřejnosti a vývoji recepce v závislosti na ideologickém kontextu. Předkládaná bakalářská práce si klade za cíl ilustrovat na příkladu recepce Kafky působení mocenských praktik, kterými tehdejší režim kontroloval kulturní provoz a tím myšlení lidí a poukáže na význam Kafkových děl pro českou kulturu té doby.
