Determination of sensitivity of bacteria of the genus Ochrobactrum sp. on antibiotics using the dilution method and the E-test

Abstract:

Práce přináší jednak profily a porovnání citlivosti na antibiotika u divokých i klinických izolátů kmenů bakterií Ochrobactrum sp. a taktéž i porovnání stanovení citlivosti na antibiotika pomocí dvou standardních metod - pomocí diluční metody v mikrotitrační destičce a pomocí E-testu. Práce prokázala, že všechny testované kmeny Ochrobactrum anthropi jsou rezistentní vůči většině cefalosporinů a penicilinů. Výsledky bakalářské práce přesvědčivě svědčí o tom, že stanovení citlivosti na testovaná antibiotika pomocí diluční metody v mikrotitrační destičce a pomocí E-testu jsou identická. V případě ciprofloxacinu a gentamicinu byla rezistence u kmenů izolovaných z klinických materiálů od pacientů z cystické fibrózy výrazně větší, než u divokých kmenů ochrobakterů izolovaných z vnějšího prostředí; v případě ciprofloxacinu dokonce o tři řády vyšší.

Abstract:

The work brings both profiles and comparison of susceptibility to antibiotics in both wild and clinical isolates of the strains of Ochrobactrum sp and also comparison of antibiotic susceptibility determination using two standard methods - using the microtiter plate dilution method and the E-test. The work has shown that all tested strains of Ochrobactrum anthropi are resistant to most cephalosporins and penicillins. The results of the bachelor thesis convincingly suggest that the determination of the susceptibility to tested antibiotics using the microtiter plate dilution method and the E-test are identical. In the case of ciprofloxacin and gentamicin, resistance to isolates from clinical materials from cystic fibrosis patients was significantly greater than in wild-type strains isolated from the outside; in the case of ciprofloxacin, even three orders of magnitude higher.
