Latin American Government Approaches to the Coronavirus Pandemic: Examples of Argentina and Uruguay

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá přístupem latinskoamerických vlád k pandemii způsobenou nemocí COVID-19 v roce 2020 a na začátku roku 2021. Úvodní část práce se zabývá vysvětlením pojmů týkajících se respiračního onemocnění, které je způsobeno novým koronavirem SARS-CoV-2. Dále je popsán průběh a dopad pandemie v latinskoamerických zemích. Hlavní část práce je soustředěna na průběh pandemie v Argentině a Uruguayi a na zavedení opatření jednotlivých vlád. Pozornost je věnována zejména nástrojům sociální politiky, kterými vlády Argentiny a Uruguaye reagovaly na situaci vyvolanou pandemií COVID-19.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the approach of Latin American governments to the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 disease in 2020 and at the beginning of 2021. The introductory part deals with the explanation of concepts related to respiratory disease caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. The course and impact of the pandemic in Latin American countries are also described. The main part of the thesis is focused on the course of the pandemic in Argentina and Uruguay and on the introduction of measures by individual governments. Particular attention is paid to the social policy instruments used by the Argentine and Uruguayan governments to respond to the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
