The influence of the current Slovak government's leftist ideological orientation on the competitiveness of the Slovak economy

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the relationship of the current Slovak governmnet’s ideological orienation and its goal of improving the competitiveness of the Slovak economy in line with the Lisbon Strategy. The thesis analyzes the influence of the government’s ideological orientation on its overall vision, policies formulated towards reaching this vision and the specific steps draughted within these policies , as set out in the government’s central strategic document, released shortly after its formation. The thesis focuses on the economic and social agenda of the document, i.e. the agenda crucial to the Lisbon process. Subsequently, the thesis scrutinizes the influence of the vision, polices and steps on the competitiveness of the economy. The purpose of this thesis is to determine whether a conflict existst between the leftist ideological orientation of the current Slovak government and its vow to enhance the competitiveness of the Slovak economy in accordance with the Lisbon Strategy.

Abstract:

Predmetom tejto práce je vzťah ideovej orientácie súčasnej slovenskej vlády a jej záväzku zvyšovať konkurencieschopnosť hospodárstva v súlade s Lisabonskou stratégiou. Práca vychádza z častí programového vyhlásenia venovaných hospodárskej a sociálnej oblasti, čiže dvoch oblastí zásadných pre agendu konkurencieschopnosti. Skúma vplyv ideovej orientácie vlády na jej víziu konečného stavu, politiky formulované k dosiahnutiu tejto vízie a konkrétne opatrenia realizované v rámci navrhnutých politík. Následne práca analyzuje vplyv vízie, politík a opatrení na konkurencieschopnosť hospodárstva. Cieľom práce je určiť, či existuje konflikt medzi ľavicovou ideovou orientáciou vlády a jej záväzkom zvyšovať konkurencieschopnosť hospodárstva v súlade s Lisabonskou stratégiou.
