Euthanasia - a crime or act of mercy

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá protiprávností a legálností eutanazie, taktéž rozebírá otázku její humánnosti. V teoretické části se zabývá vysvětlením základních pojmů týkajících se eutanazie, její historií, náboženského pohledu, alternativní paliativní péčí a pocity terminálně nemocných pacientů. Dále jsou rozebrány důvody, které poukazují na pozitiva a negativa eutanazie a její legálnosti a taktéž se zabývá vybranými státy, kde je eutanazie legální a státy, kde je naopak trestným činem. Praktickou část tvoří rozhovor, který popisuje pocity a názory bývalé pracovnice hospicového zařízení ohledně eutanazie.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the legality and illegality of euthanasia. It also discusses the question of its humanity. In the theoretical part, it deals with the explanation of basic concepts related to euthanasia, its history, religious perspective, alternative palliative care and feelings of terminally ill patients. It also discusses the reasons that point to the positives and negatives of euthanasia and its legality. Further, it looks at selected countries where euthanasia is legal and others where it is considered a crime. The practical part brings an interview with a former hospice worker who is describing the feelings and opinions on euthanasia.
