Life and work of Jaroslav Zdrůbecký - the application of New educational movement in the Czech lands

Abstract:

The work deals with life and work of physically disabled person Jaroslav Zdrůbecký (1907-1991), who despite his handicap became an academic artist. He reached such achievement due to an influence of a Czech pedagogue František Bakule (1877-1957) who followed the principles of Progressive education in the early 20th century. He taught Jaroslav Zdrůbecký in the Jedlička’s and Bakule’s Institutes for handicapped peoples. My work is connected with a publishing house Père Castor as well, where Jaroslav Zdrůbecký was working several years as a children’s books illustrator.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje životu a dílu fyzicky postiženého Jaroslava Zdrůbeckého (1907-1991), který se přes svůj handicap stal akademickým malířem. Takového výsledku dosáhl díky vlivu českého pedagoga Františka Bakule (1877-1957), který na začátku 20. století vyučoval ve stylu reformní pedagogiky v nově vybudovaných ústavech pro tělesně postižené, v Jedličkově ústavu a poté v Bakulově ústavu. Práce je spjata i s činností Nakladatelství Père Castor, kde Jaroslav Zdrůbecký několik let působil a ilustroval alba pro děti.
