Resilience of prison service staff in relation to the risk of burnout

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na vztah resilience a syndromu vyhoření u zaměstnanců vězeňské služby. V rámci teoretické části jsou vymezeny základní okruhy dané problematiky, mezi které patří odborné vymezení oblasti resilience, syndromu vyhoření a problematiky penitenciární péče. Z hlediska praktické části je pozornost zaměřena na měření vztahu resilience k riziku syndromu vyhoření u vybrané skupiny respondentů. K dosažení daného cíle je využita 14-bodová stupnice odolnosti (RS-14) (Wagnild & Young, 1993) a BM-Burnout Measure (Křivohlavý, 1998). Výzkum byl realizován u 101 pracovníků vězeňské služby, kdy 38 (38 %) bylo mužů a 63 (62 %) žen. Cílem výzkumného šetření je zjistit a porovnat odlišnosti ve vztahu resilience k riziku syndromu vyhoření u zaměstnanců vězeňské služby. Na základě výzkumu jsou formulovány závěry a doporučení, využitelná v praxi sociální pedagogiky a dalších tzv. pomáhajících profesí.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the relationship between resilience and burnout syndrome in prison service employees. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the basic areas of the issue, including the professional definition of the field of resilience, burnout syndrome and the issue of penitentiary care. In terms of the practical part, attention is focused on measuring the relationship between resilience and the risk of burnout syndrome in a selected group of respondents. The 14-item Resilience Scale (RS-14) (Wagnild & Young, 1993) and the BM-Burnout Measure (Křivohlavý, 1998) are used to achieve the given goal. The research was carried out with 101 prison officers, 38 (38%) were male and 63 (62 %). The aim of the research investigation is to identify and compare differences in the relationship of resilience to the risk of burnout syndrome among prison service employees. On the basis of the research, conclusions and recommendations are formulated, applicable in the practice of social pedagogy and other so-called helping professions.
