Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the ecenomy of a pharmacy residing in a regional capital in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Ekonomický dopad koronavirové pandemie na lékárnu sídlící v krajském městě“ se zaměřuje na konkrétní firmu – lékárnu se sídlem v krajském městě v České republice (dále jen „Lékárna“). Práce zkoumá dopady pandemie COVID-19 na tento konkrétní ekonomický subjekt. V teoretické části práce popisuje použité výzkumné metody, zejména PESTLE analýzu. Zároveň zevrubně popisuje průběh samotné pandemie ve světě a v České republice a její vliv na celkovou ekonomiku ČR. V praktické části práce je obecný popis zkoumané firmy a aplikace PESTLE analýzy na Lékárnu. Práce dále podrobně analyzuje tržby a marži Lékárny v letech 2015-2022 a prvním čtvrtletí roku 2023, jejich množství a strukturu v jednotlivých letech a měsících, a podrobně vysvětluje jejich změny. V této části se práce opírá o interní data poskytnutá Lékárnou.

Abstract:

The Bachelor s Thesis „Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on a pharmacy residing in a regional capital in the Czech Republic“ focuses on a specific company – a pharmacy residing in a regional capital in the Czech Republic (reffered to as „Pharmacy“). The thesis studies the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on this specific company. In the theoretical part, the thesis describes the research methods used, particulary the PESTLE analysis. The thesis briefly describes the COVID-19 pandemic in the world and the Czech Republic, as well as the overall impact of the pandemic on the economy of the Czech Republic. In the practical part, there is a brief introduction of the company, and the PESTLE analysis is applied to the subject. The thesis analyses the revenue and the margin of the Pharmacy from 2015 until the end of the Q1 2023, their amount and structure, and explains the changes in detail. The thesis uses real data provided by the Pharmacy.
