The role of ABC transporters in neurodegenerative deseases

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na vliv ABC transportérů na vznik, rozvoj a prognózu neurodegenerativních onemocnění. ABC transportéry hrají důležitou úlohu v transportu různých substrátů přes buněčnou membránu. Změna jejich funkce, či případné mutace proteinu mohou vést k závažným onemocněním. Role ABC transportérů při transportu proteinů asociovaných s onemocněními nervové soustavy, je nejvíce prozkoumána u Alzheimerovy choroby, na kterou je práce zaměřena. V ostatních onemocněních, jako jsou Parkinsonova nemoc, Huntingtonova nemoc a neuropatie periferního nervstva zřejmě svou roli hrají také, ale tato úloha ještě není objasněna.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the role of ABC transporters in initiation, progress, and prognosis of neurodegenerative diseases. The ABC transporters play very important role in transport of many diverse substrates across membranes. Mutation of transporters or change of their function can lead to grave diseases. The role of ABC transporters is explored the most in Alzheimer disease, thus it is the main part of the thesis. It can play also important part of pathogenesis of other diseases such as Parkinson disease, Huntington disease or neuropathia of peripheral nerves, but the knowledge is only limited.
