Strength characteristics of female sports gymnasts

Abstract:

Sportovní gymnastika je velmi náročný sport, který moduluje fyzickou i psychickou stránku, tím spíše, pokud se sportu začíná sportovec věnovat v útlém věku. Tato práce se věnuje silovým charakteristikám sportovních gymnastek, s přihlédnutím právě ke změnám, které můžeme připisovat vlivu sportu během vývoje. V teoretické části je přiblížen historický vývoj, systémy a základy tréninku sportovní gymnastiky pro nástin problematiky sportovní gymnastiky. Dále se v teoretické části věnujeme kosterně-svalovým charakteristikám pro dodání dostatku informací k praktické části. Praktická část obsahuje samotný výzkum, který proběhl ve spolupráci se sportovními gymnastkami a studentkami. Měření zahrnovalo sílu stisku ruky, výšku, hmotnost a obvody předloktí. S těmito daty jsme mohli přikročit k testování stanovených základních hypotéz. Za použití programu R studio jsme otestovali hypotézy o tom, zda se odlišují gymnastky od běžné populace v měřených charakteristikách a BMI. Testování probíhalo v rámci určených věkových kategorií. Výsledky statistické analýzy jsme následně dali do kontextu za použití informací z teoretické části práce. Hlavní hypotéza této práce, tedy zda se gymnastky silově odlišují od běžné populace, nebyla zamítnuta u dvou kategorií a u dalších dvou nebyl nalezen rozdíl. U těchto dvou kategorií nebyla naopak zamítnuta odlišnost v tělesné výšce a v poslední kategorii i odlišnost v hmotnosti. Odlišnost sportovních gymnastek v charakteristice BMI nebyla zaznamenána v žádné věkové kategorii.

Abstract:

Sport gymnastics is a very demanding sport field which modifies physiology and psychology of an athlete. Especially when the athlete starts training at an early age. Our study focuses on the strength characteristics of female gymnasts, with emphasis on the influence sport has during the development of a child. The theoretical part describes the history, systems and basics of training process in sport gymnastics for better understanding of the sport. In this part we also focus on musculoskeletal characteristics. Practical part includes a research that was conducted in cooperation with female gymnasts and students. We have taken measurements of a handgrip strength, height, weight and circumferences of forearms. With this data we could start testing our hypothesis with the use of statistical program “R studio” to find out if gymnasts differ from the regular population of same age in measured characteristics and BMI. Testing was carried out within defined age categories. Results of statistical analysis was contextualized with information presented in the theoretical part. Main hypothesis of this study that female sport gymnasts differ from regular population in strength characteristics wasn’t rejected in two categories from the total of four and there was no significant difference in the other two. On the other hand, in these two categories differences were found in height and in the last category there was a significant difference in weight. Significant difference between BMI of gymnasts and BMI of the students wasn’t found in any age category.
