Sustainability of grocery stores in rural villages

Abstract:

Téma této bakalářské práce je velmi důležité, neboť obchody s potravinami zajišťují základní potřeby občanů a udržují komunitní vazby. Jedná se o aktuální téma, neboť v posledních letech dochází k úbytku obchodů s potravinami na venkově. Cílem práce je identifikace příkladů dobré a špatné praxe při řešení udržitelnosti obchodů s potravinami ve venkovských oblastech. Pro dosažení cíle je provedeno dotazníkové šetření v obcích do 1000 obyvatel v SO ORP Blansko a SO ORP Boskovice a vytvořeny případové studie, které se skládají ze semistrukturovaných rozhovorů s vybranými aktéry a zúčastněného pozorování ve vybraných obchodech. Práce dochází k závěru, že rušení obchodů s potravinami na venkově má negativní dopad na komunitní život občanů a na identitu obce. Implementace automatizované prodejny představuje dobrý příklad iniciativy pro udržitelnost obchodů s potravinami na venkově. Automatizované prodejny jsou dobrým nástrojem pro obce, jak se vyhnout uzavření obchodu.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor thesis is very important, because grocery stores provide basic needs for citizens and maintain community togetherness. This is a current topic, as in recent years, there has been a decline in food stores in rural areas. The aim of the thesis is to identify examples of good and bad practices in addressing the sustainability of food stores in rural areas. To achieve the goal, a survey was conducted in municipalities with up to 1,000 inhabitants in the SO ORP Blansko and SO ORP Boskovice regions. Case studies were created, consisting of semi-structured interviews with selected participants and participatory observation was done in selected stores. The thesis concludes that the closure of food stores in rural areas has a negative impact on the community life of citizens and the identity of the municipality. The implementation of automated stores represents a good example of an initiative, which can help the sustainability of rural grocery stores. Automated stores are a useful tool for municipalities to avoid store closures.
